Forest Products Technology Laboratory

The Forest Products Technology Laboratory (THH) at the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is a premier facility dedicated to supporting student practical activities and research. Equipped with modern tools, this laboratory enables comprehensive learning and offers sample testing services related to the analysis of wood, biomass, and other natural materials sourced from forests, both wood-based and non-wood-based. The THH Laboratory is accredited with SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), which sets the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. This certification ensures that the management and testing processes at our laboratory adhere to international standards, resulting in valid, reliable, and objective data.

Forest Cultivation Laboratory

The Forest Cultivation Laboratory was established to support learning activities as well as being a center for the development and application of forestry science directly related to tree improvement, tissue culture, and microbial utilization in the pulping industry. In addition, this laboratory also conducts research on forest protection, especially from pests and diseases. Various types of pests and diseases that can damage forests, both in natural forests and plantations, are studied and researched in this laboratory to develop effective prevention and control techniques.

Forest Management Laboratory

The Faculty of Forestry of USU has a Forest Management Laboratory which is an integrated laboratory that acts as a center for practicum management and research in various fields, such as Geodesy and Cartography, Forest Inventory, Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, and Forestry Socio-Economics. The laboratory consists of two rooms, Room 1 for research activities and Room 2 for practicum activities. In addition, the Forest Management Laboratory also coordinates and supports the research activities of lecturers and students in the faculty.

Forest Resources Conservation Laboratory

The USU Faculty of Forestry has a Forest Resources Conservation Laboratory. This laboratory is an integrated laboratory that aims to manage and coordinate practicums that are an important part of the educational program at the faculty. The Forest Resources Conservation Laboratory itself has two laboratory rooms, Room 1 for research and practicum activities, and Room 2 for practicum and research.
