Bejo Slamet, born in Bulu Subdistrict, Temanggung Regency, Central Java, on July 9, 1975, is the second child of two siblings. However, his older brother passed away before his birth, making him the only child of Sunarjo Diran and the late Ruwet. He is currently married to Dr. Iwan Risnasari S.Hut., M.Si., and they have been blessed with three children. His educational journey began with a Bachelor's degree (S.Hut) at IPB (graduated in 1998), followed by a Master's degree (M.Si) at IPB (graduated in 2006), a Doctorate (Dr.) at IPB (graduated in 2016), and a Professional Program - Engineer (Ir) also from IPB, graduating in 2021. Throughout his undergraduate to doctoral studies, he received educational scholarships from the Supersemar Foundation and the Postgraduate Education Scholarship (BPPS) from the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia.
Since 1999, he has been working as an honorary lecturer in the Forestry Program and became a civil servant (CPNS) in 2020 at the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara. From 2017 to 2022, he served as the Head of the USU Faculty of Forestry Forest Management Department. His activities as a lecturer include carrying out the Triple Mission of Higher Education, involving education, research, and community service through various activities.
He teaches courses such as Forest Ecohydroclimatology, Watershed Management, Geographic Information Systems, and Remote Sensing for Natural Resources. In addition to teaching in the USU Undergraduate Program in Forestry, he also lectures in the USU Master Program in Forestry, the USU Master's program in Natural Resources and Environmental Management, the USU Master's Program in Water Resources Management, and the USU Doctoral Program in Water Resources at the Graduate School. He also played a role in establishing the Mangrove Center of Excellence (PUI) at the Universitas Sumatera Utara.
Furthermore, he received the Satyalancana Karya Satya XX award from the President of Indonesia in 2021. He is currently a member of several scientific and professional organizations, including the Indonesian Forest Management Community (KOMHINDO), the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII), the Indonesian Biodiversity Society (MBI), the Indonesian Society of Soil and Water Conservation (MKTI), the Indonesian Remote Sensing Experts Society (MAPIN), and the International Society for Mangrove Ecosystems (ISME).
