Prof. Ir. Siti Latifah, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., IPU, is a full-time lecturer at the USU Faculty of Forestry Undergraduate Program in Forestry. She was born in Lamongan, East Java, on April 16, 1971, as the second child of the late H. Kastur, BA and Hj. Zuhriya. She is currently married to Zahrul Ulum, S.T., M.T., and has three children named drg. Maratul Jannah Az Zahra, Imam Ali As-Syarif, and Muhammad Husein Ahmadinejad. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the Faculty of Forestry at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in 1995. In 1997-2000, she received a scholarship from BPPS to continue her Master's degree in Forestry Science at IPB. Then, in 2006-2009, she pursued a doctoral program in Natural Resources Management at the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) with funding from the SEARCA SEAMEO scholarship.
Since December 1, 2001, she has worked as a civil servant lecturer in the USU Faculty of Forestry Undergraduate Program in Forestry. Then, on January 1, 2003, she was appointed civil servant in the USU Faculty of Forestry Undergraduate Program in Forestry. She became a staff member of the M.S. Agrotechnology, M.S. Food Science, M.S. Animal Husbandry, and Ph.D. in Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, USU (2010-2015). Then, on August 1, 2023, she was appointed as a Professor/Full Professor in the field of Forest Management through the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 517122/M/07/2023.
During her career at Universitas Sumatera Utara, she has served as Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Forestry (2004-2006), Head of the Undergraduate Program in Forestry(2010-2015), and Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry (2016-2021). She has also served as a member of the USU Academic Senate (2016-2021). During her tenure as Dean, she signed an Academic Agreement between the USU Faculty of Forestry, and the College of Forestry and Natural Resources, UPLB, in 2018; a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the College of Agriculture and Life Science, Kyungpook National University (KNU), Daegu, South Korea, in 2017; and an MoU with the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), University of Twente (UT), in 2019.
She is active in research and community service activities that are funded through the TALENTA USU program, the Indonesia Collaborative Research Grant (RKI), grants from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, and the LPDP. She is also active in writing scientific articles and serving as a reviewer for national and international journals of repute. She has written 18 Scopus-indexed articles, 10 intellectual property rights, 9 books/guides with ISBN, and 214 scientific papers listed on Google Scholar.
