Dr. Iwan Risnasari was born in Bondowoso, East Java, on August 19, 1973, and is the second of three siblings. She completed her primary education up to high school in Bondowoso in 1992. After finishing her basic education, She pursued her Bachelor's degree in Forest Product Technology at the Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), graduating in 1997. In 2006, She completed her Master's education at the same institution (IPB) in the Forestry Science program and graduated in 2015. After obtaining her Master's degree, Dr. Iwan Risnasari continued her education in the Fiber and Composite Technology doctoral program at the same university.

Since 1999 until now, Dr. Iwan Risnasari has been working as a lecturer at the USU Faculty of Forestry. As a lecturer, She actively engages in various activities related to the Triple Mission of Higher Education, including education, research, and community service. Throughout her career, She has been actively contributing to scholarly works published in reputable journals and proceedings. Currently, Dr. Iwan Risnasari holds the position of Head of the Mechanical Properties Testing Laboratory at the Integrated Laboratory of USU and serves as a member of the Board of the Eco-Printer Indonesia Association (AEPI) Research and Development Division based in Yogyakarta.
