Students from the Forestry Study Program, Universitas Sumatera Utara, have achieved outstanding success as winners of the 2026 university-level Student Creativity Program (PKM) across various categories. This accomplishment reflects their growing innovation and academic excellence.

The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara, in collaboration with the North Sumatra Regional Board of JAGATARA, conducted a training on superior plant seedling production for 50 students in Tanjung Selamat Village, Sunggal District, on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Students were trained in seed selection and durian grafting techniques. The program aims to produce up to 10,000 superior seedlings to be planted with local communities to support food security, disaster mitigation, and environmental recovery in North Sumatra.

The Board of Trustees (MWA) of Universitas Sumatera Utara conducted a visit to the Faculty of Forestry to review the accredited Forest Products Technology (THH) Laboratory. The visit aimed to explore the potential development of laboratory services and strengthen the role of academic facilities in supporting education, research, and collaboration at USU.

Three research proposals from lecturers of the Faculty of Forestry USU have been awarded the 2026 DPPM USU Continuing Multi-Year Research Grant. The studies focus on mangrove ecosystem research and the development of an Eco Forest City model in Medan.
