The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a public lecture themed “A New Paradigm for Community-Based Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP) Development” on Thursday (September 10, 2026), at the Lecture Room of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Bekala Campus 2, Deli Serdang. The activity was attended by students as part of efforts to broaden their knowledge and understanding of NTFP management and development oriented toward community empowerment.
The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held an In-House Training themed “Downstreaming Research Results into Competitive Featured Products: Strategies for Commercialization, Business Development, and Industry Collaboration” on Thursday (September 10, 2026), at the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Forestry USU. Held from 09:00 to 14:00 WIB, the activity served as a platform for strengthening lecturers’ knowledge and perspectives in encouraging research results to be developed into featured products with economic value and competitiveness.
Prof. Rahmawaty, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., a professor at the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), participated in the Short-Term International Academic Program at the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Ecology, Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania, for one month, from August 17 to September 16, 2026. The program was part of an effort to enhance academic capacity, broaden scholarly perspectives, and build international collaborative networks in forestry and environmental fields.
The Rimba Raya Alliance of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a strategic and consolidative forum to strengthen the institutional transition process while finalizing preparations for the USU Forestry Student Congress. The activity took place on Friday, September 4, 2026, in the Eboni Room and Flamboyan Room, Faculty of Forestry, USU, Bekala Campus 2, Deli Serdang.
As it enters the final stage of preparation for accreditation by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Agricultural Sciences (LAM-PTIP), the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), is further strengthening the readiness of accreditation documents for the Undergraduate and Master’s Programs in Forestry. This effort was carried out through a finalization meeting and evaluation of the completeness of the accreditation forms held on Monday, August 31, 2026, in the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Forestry, USU, Bekala Campus 2, Deli Serdang.
The Rain Forest Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), carried out a community service program titled “Green Action” at the Islamic Foundation of MTs Al-Ikhlas, Pantai Buaya Hamlet, Bukit Mas Village, Besitang District, Langkat Regency, from August 28–30, 2026. Carrying the tagline “Love Nature, Save the Future,” the activity reflected students’ commitment to environmental conservation while providing an opportunity to apply forestry knowledge directly within the community.
The presentation and hands-on LMS practice session was led by Anggi Maisarah, S.H., M.H., Manager at the Directorate of Learning Digitalization, USU. She explained that KELAS USU is a Learning Management System (LMS) developed to support modern learning at USU. In addition to serving as a learning platform, it provides various features that can support research, community service, and the development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).
The three students are finalists who advanced through a series of mentoring and proposal selection processes previously conducted by Universitas Sumatera Utara. Throughout the process, they received intensive guidance to refine their innovative ideas, which will be presented at the national competition in Jakarta from August 3–6, 2026.
A warm and family-oriented atmosphere characterized the fellowship gathering of Dharma Wanita of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held in conjunction with the commemoration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW) on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The activity took place at the residence of the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, USU, Prof. Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si., in Puri Zahara II Complex, Medan.
In an atmosphere filled with pride and emotion, graduates of the Faculty of Forestry USU took part in the ceremonial proceedings alongside graduates from various faculties across Universitas Sumatera Utara. Wearing their graduation gowns, the graduates celebrated the long journey they had completed throughout their higher education.
