The Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Prof. Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si., attended a Practitioner Lecture titled "Conservation of Rare Tree Species in North Sumatra: Challenges, Opportunities, and Sustainability Strategies," organized by the Indonesian Rare Tree Forum (FPLI) in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU) at the UINSU Tuntungan Campus, Medan, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) continues to strengthen collaboration with strategic partners in support of environmental conservation and sustainable development. This commitment was reaffirmed through a meeting with PT Adi Askara Bumi held at the Faculty of Forestry Meeting Room on Tuesday (July 28). The discussion focused on opportunities to collaborate on a program to plant 10,000 trees in Deli Serdang Regency through the "New Home Pass, New Tree" environmental initiative.

Wikstea, an innovative product developed under the guidance of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), participated in Karya Kreatif Sumatera Utara (KKSU) 2026, organized by Bank Indonesia Representative Office of North Sumatra at Podomoro City Deli Medan from July 15–26, 2026. The event provided an opportunity to introduce healthy beverages made from non-timber forest products to the public while promoting the development of a sustainable natural resource-based creative economy.

The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), has strengthened its collaboration with the North Sumatra Environmental and Forestry Agency (DLHK) through a follow-up meeting on the development of the Biodiversity Park (Taman Kehati). The meeting was held at Inter Coffee, Digital Learning Center Building (DLCB) USU, on Friday (July 24, 2026).

The visit was conducted to assess the readiness of the USU Arboretum, which will serve as one of the field visit locations for delegates attending The 5th IMT-GT University Network (UNINET) Meeting Council. Through this site inspection, representatives from the USU International Office and the Faculty of Forestry evaluated the visitor routes, designated stopping points, and overall site conditions to ensure a safe, comfortable, and engaging experience for international participants.

The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) once again organized its Evening Walk on Thursday (23 July 2026) around the Faculty of Forestry and the USU Arboretum. The activity brought together the Dean, Vice Deans, lecturers, and administrative staff as part of the faculty's commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle while strengthening camaraderie among members of the academic community.

The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed a delegation from Perum Jasa Tirta I at its Simalingkar B Campus in Deli Serdang on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. The meeting served as a follow-up discussion on the collaborative development of a plant tissue culture laboratory and a modern nursery to support the production of superior seedlings for land rehabilitation programs.

The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has once again demonstrated its research excellence. Based on Rector's Decree No. 3373/UN5.1.R/SK/HK.03/2026, issued on 18 July 2026, eight lecturers from the Faculty of Forestry have been awarded the 2026 USU TALENTA Research Grant under the Reputation Research Group Scheme.

Congratulations to the eight lecturers of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) who have been selected as recipients of the 2026 USU TALENTA Research Grant under the Reputation Research Group Scheme, in accordance with Rector's Decree No. 3373/UN5.1.R/SK/HK.03/2026.

The technical training featured speakers from the university leadership, national news agencies, television media, and social media practitioners. Through a series of comprehensive sessions, participants gained insights into institutional publication standards, press release writing, video content production, and effective social media management strategies to strengthen Universitas Sumatera Utara's public image.
