USU Faculty of Forestry Hosts Directorate of IPBKST Visit to Promote Research Funding and Research Commercialization During the event, Innovation and Incubation Manager Imam Bagus Sumantri, S.Farm., M.Si., presented a session entitled “Transforming Research Outcomes into Globally Impactful Innovations and Economic Value.” The presentation covered research funding opportunities, applied research development, patents, product commercialization, reputable publications, and collaboration with industry and international partners. 11 August 2026

USU Develops Lau Buluh Lepar as a Community-Based Ecotourism Village in the Leuser Buffer Zone Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is developing Lau Buluh Lepar as an ecotourism village in the Leuser buffer zone by integrating natural resource conservation, agroforestry, food security, and community empowerment. One of the activities held as part of the program launch was the establishment of a lubuk larangan, a locally managed no-fishing zone based on the community’s traditional wisdom for conserving aquatic resources. 10 August 2026

USU Faculty of Forestry Lecturers and Education Staff Contribute to BRIDA Medan Research Network Scientific Forum The contribution also came from an education staff member of the USU Faculty of Forestry, Nur Hidayat, S.Hut., M.Si., who served as a speaker by presenting research entitled “Analysis of the Correlation between Vegetation Indices and Tree Health along the Greenways of Medan City Center.” This involvement represents an important step in expanding the role of education staff in supporting scientific activities and knowledge development in the fields of forestry and the environment. 10 August 2026

HIMAS USU Inaugurates 2026/2027 Executive Board, Strengthens Collaboration among Student Organizations In the new executive board, Dodi Sepryo Sembiring was appointed as Chairperson of HIMAS USU for the 2026/2027 period, accompanied by Irmaellin Siallagan as Secretary and Dinda Dwi Ramadhani as Treasurer. Meanwhile, the Members’ Representative Council (DPA) is led by Roy Nainggolan, with members Ilham Afandi, Stevan Pedro Sinaga, Fadhlan Azhari Sitorus, and Andre Dolly Situmorang, who are responsible for overseeing the organization’s activities in accordance with its Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART). 10 August 2026

USU Forestry Students’ ShellVator Team Advances to the Grand Final of Greenovate 2026 Advancing to the Grand Final is a proud achievement that demonstrates the enthusiasm of students in the USU Forestry Study Program to develop creativity and innovation relevant to the challenges of sustainable development. The achievement also reflects the role of higher education in encouraging young people to develop ideas that are not only innovative but also create value and positive impacts for the environment and society. 07 August 2026
