The Silviculture Forestry Student Community (SILFOSNITY) Student Association, Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), officially inaugurated its Generation II management board for the 2026/2027 period at the Akasia and Balsa Classrooms, Faculty of Forestry, USU, on Monday (September 14, 2026). Carrying the theme “SILFOSNITY Synergy: Silvicultural Regeneration for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Forests,” the inauguration marked a momentum for the new management board to continue the organization's regeneration process while strengthening student contributions to silviculture and sustainable forest management.
The activity took place solemnly and smoothly and was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry USU and Advisor to SILFOSNITY, Prof. Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si.; Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Dr. Ir. Tito Sucipto, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU., ASEAN Eng.; laboratory staff of the Faculty of Forestry USU; and representatives of student organizations within the Faculty of Forestry USU.
The theme reflected a broader meaning of regeneration. The change in management is not only a process of leadership succession but also provides a space for passing on knowledge, values, spirit, and responsibility from one generation to the next.
As a student association engaged in silviculture, SILFOSNITY is expected to serve as a learning and capacity-building space for students to understand various forestry challenges. Climate change and pressure on forest ecosystems require a young generation of forestry students who not only possess academic knowledge but also have the awareness and ability to translate it into tangible contributions.
The inauguration also marked the beginning of the SILFOSNITY Gen II management period for 2026/2027. The new management board is expected to build an inclusive organization as a space for students to learn, discuss, grow, and collaborate.
The core management structure of SILFOSNITY Gen II for the 2026/2027 period consists of Rizki Suganda Rumahorbo as Chairperson, Andryanto Situmorang as Vice Chairperson, Syahkila Febrianti as Secretary, and Angela Jesie Zebua as Treasurer.
Through the new management board, SILFOSNITY is expected to develop programs relevant to the needs of silviculture students while strengthening synergy among students and the academic community of the Faculty of Forestry USU. The spirit of regeneration is expected not to stop at a change in management but to develop into a collective movement to generate ideas and tangible actions for forest sustainability.
The spirit of regeneration and synergy developed by SILFOSNITY is also in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 15: Life on Land, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through strengthening the capacity of the younger generation, raising awareness of forest ecosystem sustainability, and fostering collaboration among students, organizations, and the academic community, SILFOSNITY is expected to contribute to building an adaptive, collaborative, and sustainable education and forestry ecosystem.
