USU and North Sumatra DLHK Conduct Site Survey for KEHATI Biodiversity Park Development The survey was conducted comprehensively through land measurements, coordinate-point determination, and boundary marking as the basis for planning the development of the KEHATI Biodiversity Park. The process aimed to ensure accurate spatial data so that the area could be developed in a well-planned and effective manner and in accordance with its intended conservation function. 04 August 2026

Exploring the Location for the North Sumatra Biodiversity Park, Faculty of Forestry USU and DLHK Discuss Area Designation During the meeting, participants discussed alternative locations to be developed as the Biodiversity Park. Overall, the development of the Biodiversity Park is projected to require approximately 10 hectares of land to optimally support conservation, education, research, and biodiversity preservation functions. 03 August 2026

Undergraduate Programs in Forestry and Biology at USU Send Eight Students to Participate in PUI Mangrove Community Development Program Led by Prof. Mohammad Basyuni, the Community Development Program carries the theme “Leuser Buffer Zone Independent Village Model: Integrating Multi-Purpose Tree Species (MPTS) Agroforestry and Community-Based Ecotourism Branding Strategies.” The program aims to develop an independent village model based on local potential through the implementation of agroforestry systems, biodiversity conservation, and community capacity building for the development of community-based ecotourism in the buffer zone of the Leuser Ecosystem. 02 August 2026

USU Faculty of Forestry and PT Adi Askara Bumi Strengthen Partnership to Plant 10,000 Trees The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) continues to strengthen collaboration with strategic partners in support of environmental conservation and sustainable development. This commitment was reaffirmed through a meeting with PT Adi Askara Bumi held at the Faculty of Forestry Meeting Room on Tuesday (July 28). The discussion focused on opportunities to collaborate on a program to plant 10,000 trees in Deli Serdang Regency through the "New Home Pass, New Tree" environmental initiative. 28 July 2026

Dean of the Faculty of Forestry USU Attends Expert Lecture on the Conservation of Rare Trees in North Sumatra The Expert Lecture featured speakers from various institutions, including the Secretary of the Indonesian Rare Tree Forum (FPLI), Mokhamad Nur Zaman, S.Si., M.Ling., and researcher from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Dr. Iyan Robiansyah, M.Sc. The event was also attended by Vice Rector IV for Cooperation and Institutional Development of UINSU, Prof. Dr. Muzakkir, M.Ag., along with members of the academic community and various partners concerned with the conservation of Indonesian flora. 28 July 2026
