Preparations for the nature education activity at the Arboretum of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) continue to be finalized. On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, representatives of the Relawan Kemanusiaan Nusantara (RAWANTARA) Medan conducted a site and trekking route survey in the USU Arboretum area, USU Campus 2, Kwala Bekala, Deli Serdang.

The survey was conducted by representatives of RAWANTARA Medan, Zidan Syahira and Yadia, accompanied by the Secretary to the Dean and the Public Relations Team of the Faculty of Forestry USU, as well as representatives of the Rain Forest Student Activity Unit (UKM). The team jointly followed the trail through the Arboretum area to directly observe the terrain and environmental conditions that participants will encounter.

The survey was not only part of the technical preparations but also aimed to ensure that the selected route is safe and suitable for participants. The condition of the route, access, and points requiring attention were among the aspects examined during the survey.

This field survey is expected to support the implementation of the activity so that it can take place in an orderly and safe manner while providing participants with an enjoyable learning experience. The USU Arboretum, as a green open space, also provides an opportunity for participants to learn about the forest environment directly while developing awareness of environmental conservation.

The collaboration between RAWANTARA Medan, the Faculty of Forestry USU, and the Rain Forest Student Activity Unit demonstrates the importance of synergy among various parties in organizing educational activities that combine humanitarian, educational, and environmental aspects. Through thorough preparation, the activity is expected not only to provide an experience in nature but also to foster participants' awareness of protecting their surrounding environment.

This activity is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education through experiential learning in nature, as well as SDG 15: Life on Land through introducing and increasing awareness of forest ecosystems. Inter-institutional collaboration in preparing the activity also supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
