The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed a visit from the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Simalungun, on January 31, 2025, at the USU Bekala Campus to discuss the International Conference 2025 on Bamboo Forestry Resources and Application (IC-BaFoRA), organized by PUI Bambu. The discussion covered the concept, theme, and implementation strategy of the conference, which is expected to serve as a platform for academics and researchers to share innovations and strengthen international collaboration.

The Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held the Coaching for PKM 2025 Proposal Preparation on January 23-24 at USU Kwala Bekala Campus to guide students in drafting high-quality proposals that can secure national funding and qualify for the 38th National Scientific Week (PIMNAS). The event was attended by faculty leaders, expert speakers, and 20 faculty mentors. Out of 455 creative ideas, 37 proposals were selected for intensive training. This initiative is expected to increase the number of funded proposals and encourage student creativity in the forestry sector.

Rector of USU, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., issued Professor Decrees to 36 lecturers, including four Faculty of Forestry lecturers, on January 23, 2025 at the USU Academic Senate Room. With this addition, the Faculty of Forestry now has 11 professors (25% of the total lecturers). The Rector of USU hopes that the increase in the number of professors can strengthen the Tridharma of Higher Education and increase USU's competitiveness globally.
