The Forest Product Technology Laboratory of the USU Faculty of Forestry has officially received an accreditation certificate SNI ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 (April 23, 2024 - April 22, 2029) from KAN, for the category of Testing Laboratories that implement the General Requirements for the Competence of Testing Laboratories and Calibration Laboratories.

The briefing for prospective graduates this time raised the theme “Kiprah Sarjana Kehutanan di Birokrasi Pemerintahan” by inviting one of the USU Faculty of Forestry alumni, Budi El Rodo Simanjuntak, S.Hut as a resource person.

In the midst of a series of events commemorating the 74th World Meteorological Day which took place at Plaza Rimbawan, USU Bekala Faculty of Forestry Building, on Friday, May 03, 2024, the USU Faculty of Forestry signed a cooperation agreement with the Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region I Medan.
In its implementation, the usu research team collaborated with several partners consisting of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and UiTM Puncak Alam to establish cooperation and expand the scope of research to be developed.
The Indonesian Rare Tree Forum (FPLI) held an internal meeting with Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), especially with lecturers and researchers from the USU Faculty of Forestry.
After successfully achieving international certification SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for the Forest Products Technology Laboratory in April 2024, the USU Faculty of Forestry is now listed as one of the best forestry programs in Indonesia. According to an assessment conducted by the Scimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2024, USU Forestry is ranked 5th as the best forestry program in Indonesia and 514th in the world.
Cinta Auliya, a Forestry USU student, successfully passed the PKM selection by Belmawa Kemendikbudristek with her "Maggot Fellas" innovation for organic waste management.
