The Faculty of Forestry at USU, involving lecturers and students, initiated endemic species conservation at KHDTK Pondok Bulu. Through agroforestry education and natural seed propagation training, this activity serves as a tangible step toward sustainable, research-based conservation and community empowerment.
The Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) officially dispatched the 2025 Forest Ecosystem Introduction Practice (P2EH) participants to KHDTK Pondok Buluh Training Forest in Dolok Panribuan District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. This activity aims to provide students with hands-on experience in exploring forest ecosystems and applying conservation practices directly in the field. The send-off ceremony took place on June 23, 2025, in the courtyard of the Mini Stadium at USU, witnessed by the faculty leadership, lecturers, and organizing committee.
The Faculty of Forestry USU conducted a soft launch of its new football field at Kwala Bekala Campus on Sunday, June 22, 2025. The event was combined with an academic gathering through a friendly match and communal lunch. It is hoped that this field will serve as a venue for sports, recreation, and strengthening camaraderie within the faculty.
The Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a two-day P2EH briefing from June 19–20, 2025, at the USU Kwala Bekala Campus. The event featured lectures from expert lecturers on topics such as Vegetation Inventory, NTFPs, Environmental Services, Wildlife Inventory, and First Aid and Rope Techniques (PPGDTT). The briefing concluded with an exam to assess students' understanding before conducting field practice.
The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held a Faculty Advisory Board meeting on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, attended by professors and senate members. The meeting discussed various inputs for the development of academic quality improvement programs, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) achievements, and internationalization efforts. This discussion is expected to generate constructive recommendations to support the institution's sustainable advancement.
On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, the Faculty of Forestry at USU received a visit from the Internal Supervisory Board (BPI) of USU as part of the performance audit for the 2025 academic year. The audit aims to evaluate the effectiveness of governance and the performance achievements of work units, as well as to strengthen institutional accountability and service quality. The activity took place in the FHUT USU meeting room at the Kwala Bekala Campus.
HIMAKOVI of USU’s Faculty of Forestry celebrated its 6th anniversary with advisor Dr. Pindi Patana, encouraging students to develop conservation-based businesses and build external collaborations.

The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held three Teaching Practitioner sessions for the Forestry Policy and Regulation course in May 2025. Featuring Ismail, S.Hut., M.A. from Leuser Conservation Partnership (LCP), the sessions addressed key topics such as FOLU Net Sink 2030, REDD, timber trade legality through FLEGT and SVLK, and global forest governance dynamics.
