The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (Fahutan USU) held e-learning training for lecturers of the Undergraduate Program in Forestry and the Master's Program in Forestry on Wednesday (21/10/2026), from 10.00–12.00 WIB, in the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Forestry USU. This activity aimed to improve learning quality while strengthening the utilization of digital technology in the educational process within the faculty environment.

The training was attended by lecturers from the Faculty of Forestry USU, featuring Dr. Ir. Bejo Slamet, S.Hut., M.Si., as the resource person. During the activity, participants received a presentation regarding the utilization of e-learning applications to upload and manage lecture materials digitally so they are easier to access and utilize in the learning process.

One of the main topics discussed was the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI), including ChatGPT, to assist in creating summaries of lecture topics. The generated summaries can be used as supporting materials before being uploaded into the e-learning application. This approach is expected to help lecturers prepare learning materials more effectively, structurally, and adaptively to developments in educational technology.

Through this training, lecturers are encouraged to optimize the use of digital learning platforms while developing teaching methods relevant to student needs. The utilization of technology is also expected to broaden access to lecture materials and support a more flexible and sustainable learning process.

This activity is part of Fahutan USU's efforts to strengthen digital transformation in higher education. The integration of technology in learning is expected not only to increase the efficiency of material delivery but also to foster innovation and enhance lecturer competencies in delivering quality learning experiences.

These efforts align with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, through strengthening learning quality and utilizing technology to support inclusive and sustainable education. Furthermore, this activity supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, through the utilization of digital technology as part of innovation development in the higher education system.
