A warm and family-oriented atmosphere characterized the fellowship gathering of Dharma Wanita of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held in conjunction with the commemoration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW) on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The activity took place at the residence of the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, USU, Prof. Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si., in Puri Zahara II Complex, Medan.
The activity was attended by nearly all members of Dharma Wanita of the Faculty of Forestry, USU. More than simply providing a gathering space for its members, the event was held in a family-oriented atmosphere that also involved their families, including husbands and children, making the fellowship even closer and more meaningful.
The event began with welcoming remarks from the host, represented by Prof. Arida’s husband, Prof. Apri Heri Iswanto. In his remarks, Prof. Apri expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the presence of all Dharma Wanita members and their families. He expressed hope that the activity would run smoothly and bring blessings to all participants.
“Thank you to the Dharma Wanita members of the Faculty of Forestry and their families for being here. May this activity run smoothly and bring blessings to us all,” said Prof. Apri in his remarks.
The event continued with a religious lecture (tausiyah) delivered by Ustaz Sairuz Zuhdi. In his lecture, he encouraged participants to maintain fellowship and to take the life of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as an example in their daily lives.
This message was an important part of the Maulid Nabi commemoration, which is not only understood as a moment to commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), but also as an opportunity to reflect on values of exemplary conduct, compassion, togetherness, and care that can be applied in community life.
Following the lecture, the activity continued with a communal meal. The gathering provided a more relaxed opportunity for Dharma Wanita members and their families to interact, share stories, and strengthen family ties within the Faculty of Forestry, USU community.
The fellowship gathering and Maulid Nabi commemoration demonstrated that togetherness within the Faculty of Forestry, USU, is built not only through institutional activities but also through social and family relationships. The involvement of family members also created an atmosphere of togetherness that can strengthen mutual understanding, appreciation, and support.
In the context of sustainable development, the activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being through strengthening social well-being and positive interpersonal relationships, as well as SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through strengthening networks, togetherness, and collaboration within the academic community. The spirit of fellowship nurtured through this simple yet meaningful activity is part of the effort to build a harmonious, inclusive, and sustainable institutional environment.
