Eight Faculty of Forestry USU Lecturers Secure 2026 USU TALENTA Research Grants The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has once again demonstrated its research excellence. Based on Rector's Decree No. 3373/UN5.1.R/SK/HK.03/2026, issued on 18 July 2026, eight lecturers from the Faculty of Forestry have been awarded the 2026 USU TALENTA Research Grant under the Reputation Research Group Scheme. 21 July 2026

USU Strengthens Public Communication Competencies through Public Relations Technical Training The technical training featured speakers from the university leadership, national news agencies, television media, and social media practitioners. Through a series of comprehensive sessions, participants gained insights into institutional publication standards, press release writing, video content production, and effective social media management strategies to strengthen Universitas Sumatera Utara's public image. 20 July 2026

Universities and PERWAKU North Sumatra Collaborate to Plant 600 Seedlings in Celebration of World Nature Conservation Day 2026 "As the Chair of PERWAKU, I am deeply touched and proud of the success of this event, which brought together more than 100 participants from various universities across Medan. Their enthusiasm reflects the strong environmental awareness and commitment of the younger generation and the academic community to advancing environmental conservation and the sustainable development of bamboo resources," he said. 15 July 2026

USU Faculty of Forestry and North Sumatra Environment and Forestry Agency Strengthen Collaboration to Develop the North Sumatra Biodiversity Park This partnership reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthening collaboration in addressing challenges related to forest management and environmental conservation in North Sumatra. One of the key focuses of the Cooperation Agreement is the development of the North Sumatra Biodiversity Park (Taman Kehati). 15 July 2026

Directorate of Human Resources Conducts Working Visit to the Faculty of Forestry, USU The meeting was held in an interactive atmosphere through presentations and discussions covering various aspects of human resource management at Universitas Sumatera Utara. Topics included staff placement procedures, personnel administration systems, and employees' rights and responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulations. 13 July 2026

USU Faculty of Forestry Explores International Collaboration with the Honorary Consulate of the Netherlands During discussions with Firsal Ferial Mutyara, affectionately known as Pak Dida, participants explored a range of collaborative initiatives involving the Faculty of Forestry, other faculties within USU, the Honorary Consulate of the Netherlands, and academic partners from various Dutch universities. These initiatives are designed to generate impactful and sustainable programs that advance higher education and benefit society. 10 July 2026

Faculty of Forestry USU Strengthens Solidarity Through Community Fun Walk More than 30 faculty members and administrative staff participated in a community fun walk across the USU campus and Arboretum, promoting a healthy lifestyle while fostering stronger collegiality and a more harmonious academic community. 09 July 2026

USU Strengthens Sustainable Cocoa Farmer Empowerment through International Collaboration in Bahorok The program included training on cocoa cultivation and pest and disease management, post-harvest handling, marketing strategies, and ecotourism-based cocoa development. Farmers also received high-quality cocoa seedlings and multipurpose plants, as well as various cultivation and post-harvest equipment to improve agricultural productivity. 06 July 2026

Shaping Future Foresters: Forestry USU's P2EH 2026 Equips Students with Field Experience in Gunung Leuser National Park Field-based learning extends beyond academic knowledge to character development. Throughout the ten-day field practice, students were encouraged to cultivate discipline, responsibility, teamwork, leadership, and adaptability in a natural environment. To support the demanding field activities, participants also followed a structured fitness program designed to maintain their physical endurance throughout the program. 05 July 2026
