The Directorate of Human Resources (HR) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) conducted a working visit to the Faculty of Forestry at USU's Campus 2, Kwala Bekala, Simalingkar, on Monday (13/7) at 08.30 WIB. The visit aimed to strengthen coordination while providing socialization and enhancing understanding of human resource management among the administrative staff of the Faculty of Forestry.
The HR Directorate delegation was led by the Human Resources Manager, Laila Surya Nasution, and was welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Prof. Arida Susilowati, together with the faculty's leadership team, comprising Vice Dean I Dr. Tito Sucipto, Vice Dean II Dr. Luthfi Hakim, and Vice Dean III Dr. Anita Zaitunah.
Also in attendance were the Head of the Personnel and Finance Subdivision of the Faculty of Forestry, Mayanti Jumiahari Harahap, along with administrative staff responsible for finance and human resources, namely Farhan Farizky, Tri Yanti Yenni, and Indra.
The meeting was conducted in an interactive format featuring presentations and discussions on various aspects of personnel management within Universitas Sumatera Utara. The topics covered included staff placement mechanisms, personnel administration systems, and employees' rights and obligations in accordance with the applicable regulations.
During the question-and-answer session, participants had the opportunity to clarify various personnel administration procedures while discussing issues related to the implementation of administrative duties and HR services at the faculty level. The discussion was expected to enhance the administrative staff's understanding of personnel policies and support the implementation of effective, transparent, and accountable administrative governance.
On the occasion, Human Resources Manager Laila Surya Nasution expressed her hope that the activity would provide tangible benefits for human resource development within the Faculty of Forestry.
"We hope that through this discussion, all participants will gain a better understanding of the personnel regulations and procedures applicable at Universitas Sumatera Utara. Ultimately, this understanding is expected to contribute to improving the quality of human resources within the Faculty of Forestry and support the development of more effective administrative governance," she stated.
In addition to the discussion session, the HR Directorate delegation also visited the Faculty of Forestry's Greenhouse, one of the faculty's conservation facilities dedicated to the cultivation and preservation of various plant collections. During the visit, the delegation showed great interest in observing the diverse plant species maintained there, including pitcher plants (Nepenthes spp.) and corpse flowers (Amorphophallus spp.), which serve as valuable resources for education, research, and biodiversity conservation.
The visit to the Greenhouse provided the delegation with a closer look at the facilities supporting the university's three core missions of education, research, and community service. These facilities reflect the Faculty of Forestry's commitment to advancing academic excellence while promoting biodiversity conservation.
The working visit formed part of the HR Directorate's ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination with faculties and ensure that personnel-related information is communicated comprehensively across all academic units within the university. The synergy between the HR Directorate and the Faculty of Forestry is expected to enhance the quality of administrative services and support the continuous development of human resources at Universitas Sumatera Utara.
The activity concluded with a group photograph and a luncheon, fostering stronger institutional relationships between the Directorate of Human Resources and the Faculty of Forestry.
This initiative supports the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by promoting effective, transparent, and accountable institutional governance, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening coordination and collaboration among organizational units within Universitas Sumatera Utara.
