The Rector explained that the cooperation between USU and Institut Français d’Indonésie through Alliance Française Medan had been established during the tenure of the previous rector. This collaboration includes offering French language classes at Level A1 and Level A2. Additionally, USU has a French Corner (Warung Prancis), inaugurated in 2014, located at the USU Language Center. “This year, two USU lecturers are continuing their doctoral studies in France through LPDP scholarships. They are Ms. Vivi, pursuing a PhD at Université de Poitiers, and Ms. Joiverdia, pursuing a PhD at another university in France,” the Rector said.
The Rector expressed hope that this partnership would continue in the future with broader and more varied programs, enabling more USU lecturers to pursue doctoral studies in France.
Meanwhile, Antoine Devencoux du Buysson, French Embassy Attaché to Indonesia, accompanied by Thomas Simoes (Director of Alliance Française Medan), Pogy Kurniawan (President of Alliance Française Medan), Debbie Rosaline (Campus France), and Irma Tobing (Pedagogic Coordinator), extended his gratitude for the successful implementation of this collaboration.

He acknowledged that the existing collaboration, such as French language classes and the French Corner, has been running well. “I hope this MoU will further open opportunities for both parties to expand their collaboration into broader areas,” Antoine concluded.
