The Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) 2026 officially began on Wednesday (August 12, 2026). The first day started with a welcoming ceremony for new students led by the Rector of USU at the Kembar Field, USU Padang Bulan Campus, Medan, beginning at 6:30 a.m. WIB.

After attending the welcoming activities at USU Campus I, the new students proceeded to their respective faculties. Upon arriving at the Faculty of Forestry USU, they were warmly and enthusiastically welcomed by the committee as they began their journey into university life.

The first day of PKKMB activities at the Faculty of Forestry USU included a prayer, the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, and remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Prof. Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si., Head of the Forestry Study Program, Dr. Evalina Herawati, and several other representatives. The activities continued with an introduction to faculty members and education staff.

In addition to introducing the academic environment and faculty community, new students received several sessions to prepare them for university life, including information on the Student Creativity Program (PKM), library services, and higher education in the context of the digital era and the Industrial Revolution.

The enthusiasm of the new students was evident throughout the activities. They followed each session attentively and enthusiastically while beginning to build connections with the academic environment that will become part of their educational journey at the Faculty of Forestry USU.

Through PKKMB, the Faculty of Forestry USU not only introduces students to the campus environment but also fosters a spirit of learning, adaptation, and personal development, preparing them to become members of an academic community with integrity and to contribute to society and the environment.

The implementation of PKKMB also contributes to efforts to promote inclusive, quality, and sustainable education. Through academic orientation, introduction to the university environment, and character development from the beginning of their studies, the program supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, which emphasizes the importance of quality education and lifelong learning. As students of the Faculty of Forestry, this educational journey is also expected to foster a generation with strong environmental awareness and the ability to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
