Students of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), have once again achieved an outstanding accomplishment. The ShellVator Team from the Forestry Study Program advanced to the Grand Final of Greenovate 2026, a competition that brought together university students from across Indonesia to develop sustainable business ideas and innovations for a sustainable future. The competition was held in Jakarta from August 3 to 6, 2026.

The ShellVator Team consists of three students: Agnes T.E. Sihaloho (Student ID 241201124), Angelita Catherine Arsya Sihite (Student ID 241201039), and Viona Desrani Cikita Manalu (Student ID 241201024).

Greenovate 2026 provided a platform for more than 400 students from universities across Indonesia to develop more than 150 sustainable business ideas. In the competition, the ShellVator Team demonstrated the quality and creativity of its ideas, securing a place in the Grand Final.

In the final round, the ShellVator Team will compete against student teams from several leading Indonesian universities, namely Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN), Universitas Palangka Raya (UPR), Universitas Cenderawasih (UNCEN), and Universitas Mulawarman (UNMUL).

Advancing to the Grand Final is a proud achievement that demonstrates the enthusiasm of students in the USU Forestry Study Program to develop creativity and innovation relevant to the challenges of sustainable development. The achievement also reflects the role of higher education in encouraging young people to develop ideas that are not only innovative but also create value and positive impacts for the environment and society.

The ShellVator Team’s achievement is aligned with the Faculty of Forestry USU’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education through the development of students’ competencies and creativity, as well as SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through the promotion of entrepreneurship and sustainable business innovation.
