The spirit of independence was vividly celebrated at the Red and White Festival of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the USU Rectorate Bureau Courtyard in Medan. As part of the festivities, the Faculty of Forestry USU participated in the Yell-Yell Competition, showcasing the enthusiasm and unity of its academic community.

The Faculty of Forestry USU was represented by 20 participants, consisting of education personnel and students. Carrying a forestry-themed concept with a spirit of determination, the performance combined synchronized movements, voices, and energy to portray the character of foresters as resilient, united, and persistent.

From the beginning of the performance, the participants demonstrated great enthusiasm and performed with confidence. The strong teamwork between education personnel and students became one of the key strengths of the Faculty of Forestry USU’s performance. The spirit was further enhanced by the cheers and applause of the audience, which accompanied the performance until the end.

For the participants, taking part in the competition was not merely about competing but also served as an opportunity to strengthen togetherness and foster a collective spirit within the Faculty of Forestry USU. The collaboration between education personnel and students demonstrated that the spirit of independence can be celebrated through intergenerational unity.

The Faculty of Forestry USU’s participation in the Yell-Yell Competition at the Red and White Festival also provided an opportunity to showcase the spirit of forestry in a creative and joyful atmosphere. The positive energy displayed reflected the commitment to staying united, collaborating, and creating meaningful contributions while upholding the reputation of the Faculty of Forestry USU.

This participation aligns with the spirit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration between education personnel and students in fostering togetherness and strengthening internal networks within the academic community. The values of unity, cooperation, and mutual support reflected in the activity contribute to building an inclusive, cohesive, and sustainable academic environment.

Through its participation in the Red and White Festival, the Faculty of Forestry USU not only contributed to the celebration of Indonesian Independence but also strengthened the values of togetherness, creativity, and mutual cooperation as important foundations for building a strong academic community.
