HUMAS FAHUTA – The Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an academic gown distribution activity for new students of the 2026/2027 Academic Year on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The activity was part of a series of new student welcoming activities held simultaneously across all faculties at USU.
The activity began with new students gathering at the USU Mini Stadium on the Padang Bulan Campus in Medan before being transported to the Faculty of Forestry at USU’s Bekala Campus in Simalingkar, Deli Serdang Regency, using USU shuttle buses.
Upon arrival at the Faculty of Forestry, the new students were welcomed by the faculty leadership and organizing committee. The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Dr. Tito Sucipto, delivered welcoming remarks and motivated the students to pursue their studies with enthusiasm, integrity, and a commitment to continuously developing their potential.
Also providing guidance was the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Forestry, Dr. Evalina Herawati, who encouraged the new students to make the most of their study period as an opportunity to develop academic competencies, character, and environmental awareness.
In addition to distributing academic gowns, the committee provided important information regarding the implementation of the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB), including the activity schedule and an introduction to the committee members who will accompany students throughout the orientation program.
The activity concluded with the distribution of academic gowns, symbolizing the official inclusion of the new students as members of the Universitas Sumatera Utara community. Through this activity, the Faculty of Forestry at USU hopes that new students will begin their academic journey with enthusiasm, a sense of responsibility, and a commitment to becoming excellent and competitive forestry professionals.
The activity supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through the provision of inclusive and quality higher education, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration among faculty leadership, lecturers, education personnel, and students in creating an academic environment that supports successful learning.
