The Bachelor Degree of Forestry Study Program at USU has begun offering International Classes in the Odd Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year as part of efforts to internationalize the campus and enhance the quality of learning to meet global standards.

HUMAS FAHUTAN — The Bachelor Degree of Forestry Study Program, Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), has officially begun offering International Classes in the Odd Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year. This program forms part of the faculty’s commitment to supporting the campus internationalization agenda and improving the quality of learning in accordance with global standards.

 

The implementation of the International Classes involves five classes, namely HUT3A, HUT3B, THH5, KSH5, and KSH7, with several courses delivered in English as the language of instruction. These courses include Forest Management (HUT2113) (HUT3A and HUT3B classes) taught by Prof. Ir. Siti Latifah, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., IPU; Urban Forestry Science (HUT3184) (KSH5 class) taught by Dr. Ir. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU, and Moehar Maraghiy Harahap, S.Hut., M.Sc.; Wood Adhesives and Lignocellulosic Materials (HUT3158) (THH5 class) taught by Arif Nuryawan, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D.; In-situ and Ex-situ Conservation Techniques (HUT3182) (KSH5 class) taught by Dr. Ir. Pindi Patana, S.Hut., M.Sc., IPU; and Human–Wildlife Conflict Management (HUT4186) for the KSH7 class taught by Dr. Ir. Ma’rifatin Zahrah, M.Si.

 

The implementation of this program refers to the Decree of the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara Number 3857/UN5.1.R/SK/SPB/2025 concerning the Appointment of Lecturers for the International Class Program in the Odd Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year. The International Class Program is also supported by funding from the Directorate of Educational Development of USU for Fiscal Year 2025.

 

Through this program, students and lecturers of the Bachelor Degree in Forestry Study Program at USU are directly involved in English-medium instruction, while also fostering a more open and internationally competitive academic environment. The presence of International Classes is expected to strengthen graduate competitiveness and expand the global educational network of the Faculty of Forestry, USU.
