On Monday, October 23, 2023, a delegation from the Faculty of Forestry and Environment (FPAS) of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) visited the Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). This visit was a reciprocal gesture following a visit by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry USU, along with the Vice Dean 1 and the Head of the Forestry Study Program, to FPAS UPM in August.
The FPAS UPM delegation visited to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and discuss the implementation of the agreed collaboration. The MOA signing was held in the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Forestry, USU Bekala Campus.
The FPAS delegation comprised Prof. Dr. Hazandy Abdul Hamid (Dean), Prof. Madya Dr. Kamziah Abd Kudus (Deputy Dean of Academic and Student Affairs), Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Nazre Saleh @ Japri (Deputy Dean of Funding, Development, and Industry & Community Engagement), Prof. Madya Dr. Norizah Kamarudin (Head of the Department of Forestry Science and Biodiversity), Dr. Nor Akmar Abdul Aziz (Lecturer, Department of Recreation and Ecotourism), Cik Rhyma Purnamasayangsukasih Parman (Assistant Science Officer), and Cik Zulfa Abdul Wahab (PhD Student).
From the Faculty of Forestry USU, attendees included Dean Dr. Ir. Rudi Hartono; Vice Dean 1, Dr. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad; Vice Dean 3, Prof. Dr. Agus Purwoko; Secretary of the Forestry Study Program, Dr. Evalina Herawati; and several lecturers and staff, including Prof. Dr. Ir. Rahmawaty, Prof. Dr. Delvian, Dr. Marifatin Zahrah, Dr. Nelly Anna, Ahmad Baiquni Rangkuti, M.Si., Novita Anggraini, M.Sc., and Harisyah Manurung, M.Si. Discussions focused on evaluating previous collaborative activities and exploring future opportunities in education, research, publication, and community service.
In addition to the MOA signing, the event featured a guest lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Hazandy Abdul Hamid on the topic "Forest Ecophysiology." The lecture was held in a classroom and attended by students, particularly from the Silviculture class, with Prof. Dr. Delvian acting as the moderator.
