Arriving at Campus 2, the new Fahutan students were welcomed by the entire committee in charge, along with lecturers and education staff. The parade, accompanied by the singing of Mars Rimbawan, echoed, breaking the silence in the middle of the cool air at Bekala Campus. Arriving at Bekala Campus, new students were presented with a committee performance in the form of traditional dances followed by remarks by various parties, including the chairman of the committee, Ahmad Baiquni Rangkuti, S.Hut., M.Si, along with other lecturers and staff. Moreover, some materials related to campus life presented by lecturers were also given on the first day of PKKMB 2024.
Not much different from the implementation of the first day of PKKMB, the second day of PKKMB was also filled with various activities, including material related to Higher Education in the Era of the Industrial Revolution, Environmental Awareness and Healthy Campus, Intellectual Character and Anti-Violence, USU Library, and several other materials. Apart from being filled with various materials that add insight to new students, on this occasion, new students were also allowed to be creative with various non-timber forest products (NTFPs) that the committee had provided. This activity is none other than an entertainment and competition event that hones the creativity of new students to be more proficient in recognizing and utilizing various non-timber forest products around them. Not only that, the second day of PKKMB was also filled with Fahutan 2024 Outstanding Student Talkshow, PKM Corner, and student organization stalls.
On the third day, which fell on Thursday, August 15, 2024, USU Fahutan PKKMB activities continued with various post materials presented by all Faculty of Forestry lecturers. In this post material, students are introduced to all lecturers and divided into interests, including forest cultivation, forest products technology, forest management, and forest resource conservation. In addition to being given material related to the field of forestry, new students are also treated to exciting games and typical forestry snacks, such as fruits and Wikstea agarwood tea. On this occasion, students were also allowed to explore a greenhouse filled with a variety of unique plant species, ranging from carrion flowers, monstera, and various species of orchids, making new students amazed at their beauty and uniqueness. Not only that, they were also delighted by the rows of bell pepper plants that were bearing fruit near them.
The third day of PKKMB festivities was filled with alumni talk shows, yell performances, class performances, impression messages, announcements of the winners of TikTok videos, NTFP creations, and the best yells. Not to forget, the election of the king and queen of the jungle was also held on the last day of PKKMB Fahutan 2024. After the entire series of PKKMB Fahutan 2024 activities were completed, the PKKMB event was then closed with closing remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and a group photo.
