The USU Faculty of Forestry held a Debriefing of Prospective Graduates & Alumni Talks on February 6, 2025 at the USU Bekala Campus for Forestry with the theme “The Role of Forestry Alumni in Regional Government”. The event featured alumni Christopel Limbong, S.Hut., M.Si., and Leo Bilyanto Sembiring, S.Hut., M.Si., and was filled with award certificates for graduates with the highest GPA in each specialization. Vice Dean I, Dr. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad, S.Hut., M.Si., hoped that this activity would empower graduates to face the professional world and strengthen their contribution in the field of forestry.
FAHUTAN PUBLIC RELATIONS – The Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a Pre-Graduation Briefing & Alumni Talks event for the Second Graduation Period of the 2024/2025 Academic Year at the USU Bekala Campus Seminar Room on Thursday, February 6, 2025. This event aimed to equip graduates with insights into the professional world, particularly in the regional government sector.
The event carried the theme "The Role of Forestry Alumni in Regional Government" and featured two alumni as speakers: Christopel Limbong, S.Hut., M.Si., who currently works as a Planning, Evaluation, and Reporting Analyst, and Leo Bilyanto Sembiring, S.Hut., M.Si., who serves as a Land Use Analyst at the Department of Environment and Forestry (DLHK) of North Sumatra. They shared their experiences and provided motivation to future graduates as they prepare to enter the workforce. The event was also attended by the Head of the Undergraduate Forestry Program, Dr. Ir. Tito Sucipto, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU., ASEAN Eng., the Secretary of the Undergraduate Forestry Program, Dr. Evalina Herawati, S.Hut., M.Si., along with faculty members of the Faculty of Forestry.
In addition to the discussion session, the event also included the presentation of awards and certificates to graduates with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in each specialization. These awards were given as a form of appreciation for the graduates' outstanding academic achievements. The top graduates from each specialization were:
Sephia Br. Sembiring, S.Hut., from the Forest Cultivation specialization, with a CGPA of 3.74, supervised by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yunasfi, M.Si.
Diya Hasanah, S.Hut., from the Forest Products Technology specialization, with a CGPA of 3.56, supervised by Arif Nuryawan, S.Hut., M.Si., PhD., and Dr. Ir. Tito Sucipto, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU., ASEAN Eng.
Arnesti Sari Br. Ginting, S.Hut., from the Forest Resource Conservation specialization, with a CGPA of 3.51, supervised by Dr. Ir. Ma’rifatin Zahrah, M.Si., and Moehar Maraghiy Harahap, S.Hut., M.Sc.
Nabilla Fara Dhiva, S.Hut., from the Forest Management specialization, with a CGPA of 3.45, supervised by Dr. Anita Zaitunah, S.Hut., M.Sc.
In his speech, the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Forestry at USU, Dr. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad, S.Hut., M.Si., expressed his hope that graduates would make meaningful contributions to the forestry sector, both in government and related industries. This pre-graduation briefing is expected to serve as a bridge for graduates to adapt to the professional world and apply the knowledge they have gained during their studies.
Through this initiative, the Faculty of Forestry at USU continues to strengthen its alumni network and enhance graduates' preparedness to face future professional challenges.
