The holidays are over, and the beginning of the semester is in sight. It doesn't feel like time has rolled by, bringing new students to start their journey in pursuing education at the university of their choice, and the USU Faculty of Forestry is no exception. Before carrying out PKKMB simultaneously throughout the USU environment, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, the young foresters of the USU Faculty of Forestry 2024 attended the briefing and distribution of Campus Life Introduction for New Students (PKKMB) at USU Campus 2 Kwala Bekala, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra.
This event is an initial activity for 2024 foresters before participating in a series of PKKMB events, which will be held simultaneously on August 13-15, 2024. This activity was attended by Vice Dean I of the USU Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad, S.Hut., M.Si., Head of the USU Undergraduate Program in Forestry, Dr. Tito Sucipto, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU, ASEAN Eng., Secretary of the USU Undergraduate Program in Forestry, Dr. Evalina Herawati, S.Hut, M.Si., Head of the USU Faculty of Forestry PKKMB, Ahmad Baiquni Rangkuti, S.Hut., M.Si, Head of Academic Subdivision, Sahlel, S.Si, Head of Student Affairs Subdivision, Era Salida, S.Sos, staff of Bank Mandiri Medan branch, and lecturers of the USU Faculty of Forestry.
The activity, which more than 200 participants attended, began with the opening and remarks by the head of the committee as well as the head of the USU Faculty of Forestry PKKMB 2024, Ahmad Baiquni Rangkuti, M.Si, followed by remarks by Dr. Tito Sucipto as the Head of the USU Undergraduate Program in Forestry. In his remarks, Dr. Tito congratulated the new USU Faculty of Forestry students who had successfully passed and were selected to be part of the USU Faculty of Forestry 2024. Dr. Tito also conveyed several constructive messages and advice in his presentation.
After giving a speech, the activity continued with material presented by the head of the committee regarding the technical and series of events that will be held at PKKMB 2024. After all the briefing material was given, this activity was continued with data collection of new students for making student ID cards by USU in collaboration with Bank Mandiri, accompanied by the distribution of alma mater and PKKMB attributes, such as hats and slayers, to all new 2024 students. The distribution of attributes was also symbolically carried out by Vice Dean I, the Head and Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Forestry, the Head of the Student Affairs Subdivision, and representatives from the Medan branch of Bank Mandiri. To strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, "makan rimba" (eating together) was also one of the agendas on this occasion. This activity ended with a group photo session with all new students, lecturers, and organizers.
