The Faculty of Forestry USU held a graduation preparation seminar titled "Forestry Alumni’s Role in State-Owned Enterprise Inhutani" with Muhammad Arif, S.Hut. (GM of PT INHUTANI V Sumbagut), on May 8, 2025, at the Bekala Campus.

USU FORESTRY PR – The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), successfully held a Graduation Preparation Seminar for the third graduation period of the 2024/2025 academic year on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Seminar Room of the Faculty of Forestry, USU Bekala Campus.

 

 

Carrying the theme “Forestry Alumni’s Role in the State-Owned Enterprise Inhutani,” the event featured keynote speaker Muhammad Arif, S.Hut., an alumnus and current employee at PT Inhutani V Sumbagut. He shared his professional journey in the forestry sector, particularly within the State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) environment.

 

The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Prof. Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si., Vice Dean I Dr. Alfan Guawan Ahmad, S.Hut., M.Si., Vice Dean III Prof. Dr. Agus Purwoko, S.Hut., M.Si., Head of the Undergraduate Study Program Dr. Ir. Tito Sucipto, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and Secretary of the Undergraduate Study Program Dr. Evalina Herawati, S.Hut., M.Si., along with faculty members and academic staff who offered support and encouragement to the 26 soon-to-be graduates who had received their graduation tickets.

 

 

Adding further value to the event, representatives from the USU Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations were also present, including Director Rahma Yurliani, S.Psi., M.Psi., USU Tracer Study Manager Dr. T. Henny Febriana Harumy, S.Kom., M.Kom., and Head of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KCP Medan USU Branch, Juli Fathiya. They delivered a presentation on the Tracer Study program and various alumni services. The alumni office also introduced a collaboration initiative with PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), aimed at expanding alumni networks and offering career development and financial access opportunities for USU graduates.

 

This activity aimed to provide graduates with real-world insights into the forestry job market, especially within forestry-related SOEs. In the session, Arif shared his experiences ranging from recruitment processes to fieldwork challenges and strategies for adapting to professional environments.

 

 

In addition to the discussion session, the Faculty of Forestry USU also announced the Best Graduates at the program and concentration levels. The best graduates were:

  1. Irene Issabella Maharani Panjaitan, S.Hut. – Forest Products Technology concentration
    Supervised by Prof. Dr. Apri Heri Iswanto, S.Hut., M.Si., GPA: 3.67

  2. Virgo Andrean Sihotan, S.Hut. – Forest Management concentration
    Supervised by Dr. Anita Zaitunah, S.Hut., M.Si., GPA: 3.73

  3. Eldon Rinaldi Pudan Simamora, S.Hut. – Forest Cultivation concentration
    Supervised by Ahmad Baiquni Rangkuti, S.Hut., M.Si., and Dr. Kansih Sri Hartini, S.Hut., MP., GPA: 3.62

  4. Rizki Rahmatria, S.Hut. – Forest Resource Conservation concentration
    Supervised by Dr. Ir. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad, S.Hut., M.Si., GPA: 3.33

With great enthusiasm and a vibrant atmosphere, the Faculty of Forestry USU hopes this event will continue to strengthen the connection between the university and its alumni, as well as inspire graduates to compete in the professional world while carrying the good name of their alma mater and making a meaningful contribution to society.
