Today, on the eve of Pancasila Day, the Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held its inaugural yudisium, marking the release of 58 young Garuda and Foresters who are ready to contribute at local, national, regional, and global levels. They include 57 Bachelor of Forestry (S.Hut.) and one Master of Science in Forestry (M.Si.), who will officially graduate during the USU commencement ceremony on June 6–7.
This event marks a historic milestone as the first yudisium held by the Forestry Study Program at the USU Faculty of Forestry and will become a recurring tradition. The ceremony was titled "harvesting graduates," inspired by forestry terminology referring to the final stage of transforming trees into valuable timber.
The yudisium took place at the Faculty of Forestry, Campus 2 USU Bekala, Simalingkar A, Pancur Batu, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. The event was attended by graduates, the Dean, Vice Deans I, II, and III, the Heads and Secretaries of the Undergraduate and Master’s Program in Forestry, Heads of the MNH, BDH, THH, and KSH Laboratories, lecturers, staff, lab assistants, and students.
The ceremony was solemn yet festive, beginning with an opening session, the singing of the national anthem "Indonesia Raya" and "Mars Rimbawan," a prayer, and speeches from the Committee Chair, faculty representatives, the Heads of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Forestry Programs, Vice Dean I, the Dean, the best graduate, and a representative of the USU Forestry Alumni Association.
Each graduate was presented with a medal by faculty officials, followed by the graduates presenting a token of appreciation to the Dean. The event concluded with the symbolic handover of the graduates to the USU Forestry Alumni Association by the Dean.
The event's joy was amplified by musical performances by graduates and lecturers, capped off with group photos on the stairs, the front terrace, and the photo booth prepared by the committee.
See you at the next Yudisium/Graduate Harvesting Ceremony, Bestree!
Good practice sitting on a graduation chair before sitting on a wedding chair.
