HUMAS FAHUTAN — The Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) officially dispatched the students participating in the 2025 Forest Ecosystem Introduction Practice (P2EH) to the KHDTK Pondok Buluh Training Forest in Dolok Panribuan District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. The send-off ceremony was held on Monday, June 23, 2025, in the courtyard of the Mini Stadium at USU.

The event was attended by the faculty’s leadership, lecturers, and organizing committee. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and camaraderie, marked by a joint prayer and motivational remarks from the faculty leaders.

More than 100 students participated in this field practice activity as part of the mandatory curriculum, aimed at equipping students with fundamental forest resource inventory skills. This activity also serves as an initial step for students to understand the forest ecosystem firsthand and apply the knowledge gained in the classroom.

P2EH 2025 will be conducted over ten days, guided by lecturers and a team of field supervisors. In addition to conducting forest resource inventory and vegetation analysis, participants will learn about environmental services, wildlife inventory, the utilization of non-timber forest products (NTFP), as well as basic first aid and rope and knot techniques (PPGDTT).

The Faculty of Forestry at USU hopes this activity will help shape resilient, disciplined students who have a deep love and concern for the sustainability of Indonesia’s forests.
