USU Public Relations – The Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., conducted an inspection of Kwala Bekala Road around Campus 2 USU Kwala Bekala on Wednesday (02/09/2022).
The inspection was also attended by the Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA) of North Sumatra Province, Ir. Hasmirizal Lubis, M.Si., Ph.D.; Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of North Sumatra Province, Dr. M. Ismael P. Sinaga, M.Si.; and Head of the Road and Construction Agency of North Sumatra Province, Ir. Bambang Pardede, M.Eng.
The USU Rector stated that the visit aimed to review the proposal process for developing Kwala Bekala Road and constructing four bridges to support activities at Campus 2 USU. “We are starting by focusing on road construction while striving for the development of other facilities,” he said.
The Rector added that the road construction is expected to be completed by 2022, along with the establishment of supporting facilities following the Kwala Bekala Campus master plan.
“In the coming years, this campus area will become a well-organized region that also supports economic growth for the surrounding community,” he added.
Dr. Muryanto expressed his hope that Campus Kwala Bekala would soon be fully optimized, not only for academic purposes but also for economic activities that can improve the welfare of the broader community.
The Head of BPKAD North Sumatra Province, Dr. M. Ismael P. Sinaga, M.Si., appreciated the development of Kwala Bekala Campus and confirmed that the North Sumatra Provincial Government would fully support USU.
“We have reviewed the development plans for Kwala Bekala Campus. The implementation of faculties that have relocated is extraordinary,” he remarked.
He also expressed hope that the campus would soon operate fully and benefit the community.
“We are here to assess immediate steps that can be taken. We will initiate activities that can accelerate the development of Kwala Bekala,” he concluded.
