The Rain Forest Student Organization of the Faculty of Forestry Universitas Sumatera Utara successfully organized the National Scholarship Webinar 2026, discussing strategies for obtaining scholarships, academic capacity development, and preparation for national and international scholarship selection processes.

FAHUTAN PUBLIC RELATIONS — The Rain Forest Student Organization (Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa / UKM) of the Faculty of Forestry Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) successfully organized the Rain Forest National Scholarship Webinar 2026 on Friday, May 16, 2026. The event, held online via Zoom Meeting and livestreamed through the Rain Forest USU YouTube channel, carried the theme “Beyond the Dream: The Gen-Z Blueprint for Scholarship Excellence.”

The webinar served as an educational platform for students to gain a deeper understanding of scholarship opportunities while learning practical strategies for navigating national and international scholarship selection processes. The activity also aimed to improve academic readiness, broaden students’ perspectives, and strengthen their motivation to pursue wider educational opportunities.

The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Arida Susilowati. In her remarks, she expressed appreciation for the students’ initiative in organizing activities that support academic capacity development and enhance the competitiveness of the younger generation.

The next remarks were delivered by the Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Tito Sucipto, who appreciated the consistency of UKM Rain Forest in organizing inspirational and educational programs for students. In addition, the faculty advisor of UKM Rain Forest, Luthfi Hakim, expressed hope that the webinar would continue to be held sustainably because of its significant benefits for student development.

The Chairperson of UKM Rain Forest, Yesaya Pranata Simarmata, also expressed hope that the event would provide new insights and motivation for participants in preparing themselves for various scholarship opportunities.

This activity was part of the work program of the Research and Development Division (Litbang) of UKM Rain Forest Cabinet Nala Baskara for the 2025–2026 period, with Cinta Auliya serving as the head of the organizing committee.

The webinar featured two speakers who shared their experiences and strategies for successfully obtaining scholarships. The first speaker, Lastiur Eva Panggabean, presented information regarding the PMDSU scholarship program, including requirements, selection stages, and preparation strategies starting from the undergraduate level.

Meanwhile, Deny Arifin shared his experiences participating in various scholarship programs as well as strategies for facing the selection process. His presentation covered tips for building an attractive CV, writing an effective Letter of Statement (LoS), and improving the chances of passing scholarship selections.

The webinar was attended by 167 participants from various universities across Indonesia, including Universitas Sumatera Utara, Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Sriwijaya, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Udayana, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Telkom University, and Politeknik Negeri Medan.

Participants showed strong enthusiasm throughout the discussion session. Various questions regarding scholarship preparation, CV writing, Letter of Statement preparation, and the development of academic and non-academic portfolios became major topics of discussion during the webinar.

The implementation of the Rain Forest National Scholarship Webinar 2026 also supported the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through strengthening access to educational information and developing the capacity of younger generations.

Through this activity, UKM Rain Forest of the Faculty of Forestry USU demonstrated its commitment to providing educational programs that are practical, inspiring, and relevant to the needs of students in today’s global era.
