The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), continues to strengthen its commitment to maintaining and improving education quality through preparation for accreditation by the Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Agricultural Sciences (LAM-PTIP) for the Undergraduate Program in Forestry and the Master's Program in Forestry. This effort was realized through a meeting to update and evaluate the completeness of accreditation forms, held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Campus 2 Bekala, Deli Serdang.

The meeting, which took place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. WIB, was led by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Dr. Ir. Tito Sucipto, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and was attended by the teams and relevant units involved in the preparation of accreditation documents. This activity was part of the evaluation stage to ensure the readiness of data and supporting documents before the LAM-PTIP accreditation submission process.

The meeting chair emphasized the importance of accuracy, coordination, and communication in the process of finalizing the accreditation forms. If there were data that were not yet available, had not been updated, or encountered difficulties during the collection or input process, each unit was asked to immediately coordinate with the accreditation support team so that they could be followed up appropriately and would not hinder the subsequent stages.

The meeting also agreed on the need for more intensive coordination among the study programs, relevant units, accreditation support team, and faculty leadership. Data and supporting documents are expected to be completed gradually without waiting until the deadline, allowing each unit sufficient time to conduct examinations, verification, and improvements.

The accreditation preparation is part of the Faculty of Forestry USU's efforts to build a sustainable quality culture. This process is not only oriented toward fulfilling administrative documents but also serves as an opportunity to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of education implementation, strengthen governance, and ensure that each study program can continue to develop in accordance with established quality standards.

This commitment is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through efforts to ensure the provision of quality and sustainable higher education. Strengthening governance, accountability, and coordination among faculty elements in the accreditation process also supports SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, particularly in building effective, accountable, and transparent institutions.

Through cooperation and the involvement of all elements of the faculty, the Faculty of Forestry USU continues to strive to ensure that the accreditation process is carried out in a focused and optimal manner as part of the journey toward improving quality and achieving excellent, adaptive, and sustainable forestry education.
