Faculty of Forestry USU student, Johanna Elisabeth Patricia Sipayung, secured 3rd Runner-Up in Pilmapres USU 2026 through her IoT-based innovation “GREENEYE” for forest monitoring and disaster mitigation.
HUMAS FAHUTAN – Another proud achievement has been made by a student of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), in the 2026 University-Level Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres).
During the awarding day held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Nursing USU, Johanna Elisabeth Patricia Sipayung (Student ID: 231201147) successfully earned 3rd Runner-Up after competing with top students from various faculties across USU. She presented an innovation titled “GREENEYE: Development of an IoT and Wireless Communication-Based Forest Monitoring System for Conservation and Disaster Mitigation in Indonesia.” This innovation was highly regarded for its ability to integrate digital technology into real-time forest monitoring while contributing to data-driven disaster mitigation efforts.
Pilmapres is one of the most prestigious competitions at the university level, assessing students not only on academic excellence but also on outstanding achievements, innovation, and communication skills in presenting ideas.
This accomplishment demonstrates that students of the Faculty of Forestry USU excel not only academically but also possess strong competitiveness and the ability to deliver innovative solutions to challenges in forestry and environmental fields.
It is hoped that this achievement will inspire other students to continue developing their potential and to confidently compete at higher levels.
