Lecturers
All lecturers in Bachelor
Degree of Forestry Study Program (BDFSP) and Master Degree Forestry Study Program (MDFSP), Faculty of
Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) have met the standard requirements as lecturers in Indonesian
universities. Lecturers in BDFSP have qualifications as lecturers recognized by the Ministry of Education
Research and Technology with a minimum educational qualification of S2 and graduates from the Faculty of
Forestry accredited at least B. The quality standards of lecturers have also been met as stated in the
Academic Regulation of USU Number 13 of 2022 in article 81 concerning the lecturer quality standards of BDFSP.
Lecturer requirement is stipulated by central government under the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and
Bureaucratic Reform (MENPANRB).
Administration Staffs
There are 33 administration staffs at the Faculty of Forestry, namely 10 Civil Servants (PNS), 14
Permanent Non-Civil Servants, and 9 Non-Permanent and Non-Civil Servants. Two people works as
Administration staffs at the BDFSP and one person at MDFSP, 30 people are centralized in the Faculty
who take care of the general, academic, facilities and infrastructure, finance and human resources,
and research, community service, cooperation. The job desk of each employee supports the
implementation of educational activities, research, community service, and cooperation within the
Faculty of Forestry, BDFSP, and MDFSP as stated in the work contract of each employee.
Staff Development
Staff development at the
Faculty of Forestry USU is under the authority of the Vice Dean of Human
Resources and Finance collaborating with Human Resources Bureau under the Vice Rector of Human
Resources and Finance. Staff development is present to support professional growth and quality
development of staff in the BDFSP and MDFSP. Staff development in the BDFSP and MDFSP consists of:
(1) Lecturer certification; (2). Study assistance and further studies; and (3) Training, workshops
and internships for education staff (administration and laboratories).
Infrastructure
The Building of the Faculty of
Forestry USU consists of Block A and Block B. Block A includes the
Administration Room, Dean's Room, Meeting Room, Head and Secretary of BDFSP and MDFSP Study
Programs, One-Stop Administration Room (ASA), GJM and GKM Rooms, Guest Lecturer Room, Reading Room,
Courtroom, Master Lecture Room, Lecturer Room, Toilet, Server Room and CCTV Control Room, while
Block B includes laboratories, lecture rooms, prayer rooms, Equipment Room, Academic Archive Room,
Canteen Room, and Student Secretariat Room. Outdoor infrastructure includes THH Workshop, Green
House, Warehouse, Generator Room, Jet Pump Room and Gazebo. All infrastructures at the Study Program
level are managed directly by the Faculty of Forestry. Details of the room area and floor plan.
Facilities for students with disabilities are also provided in the form of academic facilities,
slope stairs, and toilets. Occupational Health and Safety (K3) facilities have been fulfilled such
as the presence of water hydrants at every 20 m distance.
Collaborations
BDFSP have formed several
cooperations with Indonesian and international institutions. The
collaboration is primarily focused on education and research, as well as community service and
dissemination. In terms of education, the collaboration focuses on field practices, practical work,
and curriculum development. In terms of research, the partnership focuses on collaborative research
and publication, as well as performing research that meets users' needs. Students are typically
active in research collaborations as field assistants or as part of their thesis work. Collaboration
on community services is mainly carried out through cooperation with the local community. In
2021-2023, there are 40 collaborations with domestic institutions (government sector, private
sector, NGOs, and other universities) and 6 collaborations with foreign institutions (universities,
NGOs). Collaboration between Forestry Study Program and Masters of Forestry Program has written
evidence in the form of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and Implementation of Arrangement.
