USU International Scheme Community Service team, led by Prof. Rahmawaty, has carried out a focus group discussion or FGD to commemorate community service activity on 6th September 2023.
“We have conducted FGD and are still researching the form of perception and participation of fishermen groups in mangrove tourism management,” said Prof. Rahmawaty in a release to Borneoenews on Thursday, 7th September 2023.
This community service was carried out at the Wampu Watershed Forum Secretariat, one of the partners in this international community service activity, which is located at Jalan Pasar Kecil Gg. Pribadi No. 34A.
"This activity is entitled Mangrove Ecosystem Management to Support Community Income in Lama Village and Paluh Kurau Village, Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra," explained Prof. Rahmawaty again.
The International Scheme community service activity is led by Prof. Rahmawaty with members Prof. Mohd Hasmadi Ismail as an overseas partner from Universiti Putra Malaysia, and there are Prof. Abdul Rauf and Arif Nuryawan as members.
"In addition, this community service activity involves several partners, namely the North Sumatra Wampu Watershed Forum, the Nelayan Usaha Kita Group, and the Nelayan Pantai Indah Desa Group," he explained again.
This activity also involved MBKM research students from the Universitas Sumatera Utara Faculty of Forestry who took part in Mangrove Ecotourism Management activities to Support Village Community Income.
In this activity, it was also coupled with the provision of service boards to the head of the partner which will be installed in both PKM village locations, namely Lama Village and Paluh Kurau Village.
"This activity is the initial series of community service activities that will be continued again in Hamparan Perak District," explained Prof. Rahmawaty.
