HUMAS FAHUTAN – The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), hosted the Academic Visit and Fieldwork program, attended by Master of Environment students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on December 14–18, 2024. This program included academic and fieldwork agendas designed to strengthen collaboration and expand students' knowledge of environmental management.
The program featured visits to various prominent research facilities and locations at USU, such as the Department of Environmental Engineering, Integrated Laboratory, Faculty of Forestry, and the Center of Excellence for Mangrove Research. Additionally, the itinerary included a field trip to the Lake Toba area.
The delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Rusli Yacob, Dr. Mohd Yusoff Ishak, Dr. Syazwani Sahrir, and Ts. Dr. Irina binti Harun, along with Master of Environment students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
The Dean of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si., IPM., and Vice Dean III, Prof. Dr. Agus Purwoko, S.Hut., M.Si., warmly welcomed the program. In his presentation, the Dean elaborated on the development of the USU Faculty of Forestry, particularly at the Bekala Campus. The event was also attended by the Head and Secretary of the Undergraduate and Master's Program in Forestry, Dean's Expert Staff, Head of KSH Laboratory, lecturers, and the Secretary of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Cooperation, Arif Nuryawan, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D.
The Academic Visit marked a significant milestone in inter-university academic collaboration. In addition to showcasing USU's innovations in environmental management, the program aimed to strengthen USU's global networks in education and research.
With its rich agenda and commitment to global collaboration, this Academic Visit and Fieldwork is expected to advance academic partnerships between USU and UPM while fostering innovations in sustainable environmental management.
