In the midst of a series of events commemorating the 74th World Meteorological Day, which took place at Plaza Rimbawan, USU Bekala Faculty of Forestry Building, on Friday, May 03, 2024, the USU Faculty of Forestry signed a cooperation agreement with the Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region I Medan.
The signing activity was carried out by Dr. Ir. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si, as Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry with Dr. Hendro Nugroho, S.T., M.Si as Head of BBMKG Region I Medan. Present to witness the signing of this cooperation: Dr Ardhasena Sopaheluwakan as Deputy for Climatology - Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Republic of Indonesia who also serves as Vice President, Commission for Weather, Climate, Water and Related Environmental Services and Applications, World Meteorological Organization (WMO); Wahyudin, Sp, M.I.Kom as the Head of Sampali Climatology Station Medan, Dr. Ir. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad, S.Hut., M.Si as Vice Dean I (Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs) Faculty of Forestry USU, Dr. Ir. Pindi Patana, S.Hut., MSc as Vice Dean II (Finance, Human Resources, and Assets) Faculty of Forestry USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Purwoko, S.Hut., M.Si as Vice Dean III (Research, Community Service, and Cooperation) Faculty of Forestry USU, Dr. Ir. Tito Sucipto, S.Hut., M.Si, IPU, ASEAN Eng as Head of the Undergraduate Program in Forestry, Faculty of Forestry USU, Dr. Evalina Herawati, S.Hut., M.Si as Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Forestry, Faculty of Forestry USU, Dr. Ir. Nurdin Sulistiyono, S.Hut., M.Si as Secretary of the Master's Program in Forestry, Faculty of Forestry USU, Heads of Laboratories, and representatives of lecturers and students of the Faculty of Forestry USU.
In her remarks, Dr. Ardhasena Sopaheluwakan, as Deputy for Climatology - Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Republic of Indonesia, stated that the sea and forests are two ecosystems that greatly affect climate dynamics. Therefore, this collaboration can be built between BMKG through BBMKG Region I Medan and the USU Faculty of Forestry for the development of science and technology that is useful for climate change control. Furthermore, Dr. Ir. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si., IPM as the Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry stated that through the Tridarma of Higher Education activities, the USU Faculty of Forestry is ready to build collaboration with the parties, especially with the BBMKG Region I Medan to make various efforts for adaptation and mitigation of global climate change whose impacts we are currently feeling together.
