HUMAS FAHUTAN – In celebration of Eid al-Adha 1446 H, the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a qurban event on Sunday, June 8, 2025. The activity took place in the courtyard of the Faculty of Forestry, Kwala Bekala Campus, Deli Serdang.
Three cows were sacrificed during the event. The slaughtering process was conducted in accordance with Islamic law by an experienced team and witnessed by members of the academic community and local residents. This was conveyed by Ahmad Baiquni Rangkuti, S.Hut., M.Si., as the head of the organizing committee.
Dr. Ir. Pindi Patana, S.Hut., M.Sc., Head of BKM An-Nur of the Faculty of Forestry USU, explained that the qurban is part of a social responsibility initiative and a symbol of sharing. “Through this event, we aim to instill values of sincerity and togetherness within the campus and surrounding communities,” he stated.
The qurban meat was then distributed to lecturers, staff, students, and people living around the campus. Students were also involved as committee members, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in applying religious and social values.
This qurban event is expected to become an annual tradition at the Faculty of Forestry USU, as a form of community contribution and a way to strengthen spiritual and social bonds within the academic environment.
