To begin the week with a spirit of unity and dedication, the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a morning assembly on Monday (2 November 2026). The activity, led by Bina Gurky and supervised by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Dr. Anita Zaitunah, S.Hut., M.Sc., served as an opportunity to strengthen coordination, synergy, and the commitment of the entire academic community in supporting the faculty's progress.

In her address, Dr. Anita Zaitunah emphasized the importance of maintaining unity, strengthening synergy, and fostering a spirit of collaboration in carrying out every task and responsibility. According to her, togetherness is an essential foundation for creating a harmonious working environment while encouraging every individual to contribute optimally to the institution's progress.

She also encouraged all members of the academic community to reflect on the significance of various national commemorations throughout November, including Heroes' Day, Indonesian Tree Planting Day, and National Flora and Fauna Love Day. These commemorations are not merely annual events but also reminders of the importance of dedication, appreciation for the contributions of national heroes, and concern for environmental conservation and biodiversity.

In this regard, Indonesian Tree Planting Day and National Flora and Fauna Love Day are particularly relevant to the USU Faculty of Forestry community as it continues to strengthen its role and contribution to protecting natural resources. As an educational institution in the field of forestry, environmental awareness must be demonstrated not only through academic activities, research, and community service but also through everyday behavior and concrete actions.

On this occasion, Dr. Anita Zaitunah also expressed her appreciation and gratitude to all lecturers and educational staff for their dedication, cooperation, and contributions in supporting various programs and achievements of the USU Faculty of Forestry. She emphasized that the synergy and commitment of all members of the academic community are essential foundations for improving performance quality, strengthening competitiveness, and promoting the faculty's sustainable development.

The morning assembly served as a means of fostering communication and strengthening togetherness within the USU Faculty of Forestry's working environment. Through this occasion, all members of the academic community are expected to maintain their spirit of dedication, enhance collaboration, and take an active role in creating an excellent and competitive faculty that makes a positive impact on society and the environment.

This activity aligns with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening a work culture and educational institutional environment that support improvements in human resource quality; SDG 15 (Life on Land) through strengthening awareness of biodiversity and natural resource conservation; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through enhancing synergy, cooperation, and collaboration among all members of the academic community in supporting sustainable development.
