The Faculty of Forestry at USU hosted the Top Scientist Seminar featuring an expert from the Netherlands, discussing the role of spatial technology in sustainable forest and environmental management. This event strengthens USU's commitment to addressing global environmental challenges.
FAHUTAN Public Relations – The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing academic insights by organizing the Top Scientist Seminar titled "The Role of Spatial Technology in Sustainable Forest and Environmental Management". The event took place on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Faculty of Forestry USU, USU Bekala Campus.
The seminar featured a distinguished speaker from the Netherlands, Assoc. Prof. Thomas Groen, an expert in spatial technology and environmental management. Prof. Groen shared in-depth insights into the role of spatial technology in supporting sustainable management of forest and environmental resources.
Starting at 1:30 PM WIB, the event was attended by lecturers, students, and forestry practitioners from various institutions, creating a dynamic academic atmosphere. Through this seminar, participants were expected to gain new insights applicable across fields, including research and environmental management policies.
The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to engage directly with the speaker. Additionally, the event included the signing of a Letter of Extension and a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for research collaboration and joint supervision. This signing is expected to strengthen future research cooperation and joint teaching programs.
The seminar ended with a group photo session and the presentation of a souvenir to the speaker. The Faculty of Forestry USU once again emphasized its role as an innovative educational institution committed to environmental conservation and sustainable forest resource management.
