The arrival of the Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry and his entourage received a warm welcome from Prof. Madya, Dr. Seca Gandaseca, and Dr. Muhammad Fuad Abdullah as part of IBSD Malaysia. In addition to signing the IA, discussions related to the design of activities and forms of cooperation that will be established were also discussed on this occasion.

The Faculty of Forestry of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) visited the Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainable Development (IBSD) Malaysia on Thursday, June 6, 2024. The visit was carried out by the Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si, Head of the Postgraduate Program in Natural Resources and Environmental Management (PSL), Prof. Rahmawaty, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D, and Expert Staff of the Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry for Collaboration, Dr. Nelly Anna, S.Hut., M.Si aimed at signing an Implementation Arrangement (IA) as a form of collaboration with ISBD Malaysia. On this occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Hasanuddin, Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid, S.Hut., M.P., IPU and Syahidah, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D as Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Hasanuddin were also present.

In addition to signing the IA, discussions related to the design of activities and forms of cooperation that will be established were also discussed on this occasion.

The collaboration plan for 2024 includes mangrove planting on September 8, 2024, the implementation of a conference on carbon trading and management on November 7, 2024, and research collaboration with outputs in the form of books, summer camps, icon bags, and rainforest retreats on September 1-10, 2024.

With the implementation of this visit, future collaboration between the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Universitas Hasanuddin, and the Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainable Development (IBSD) is expected to be well established.
