The Board of Trustees (MWA) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara held a visitation of Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Forestry, USU Campus 2 Kwala Bekala, Deli Serdang. The visit is one of the agendas for MWA to visit faculties within USU to discuss faculty performance reports.
The arrival of the group was warmly welcomed by the Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si and Dr. Pindi Patana, S.Hut., M.Sc as Vice Dean II of the USU Faculty of Forestry. In his remarks, Dr. Rudi Hartono expressed his gratitude to the group who had the opportunity to attend USU Campus 2 in Kwala Bekala, Deli Serdang. In this meeting, the Vice Dean I, Dr. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad, S.Hut., M.Si., Vice Dean III, Prof. Dr. Agus Purwoko, S.Hut., M.Si., Head of the USU Undergraduate Program in Forestry, Dr. Ir. Tito Sucipto, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU, ASEAN Eng. were also present, Head of the USU Masters Program in Forestry, Dr. Samsuri, S.Hut., M.Si., and several lecturers and expert staff, including Prof. Dr. Apri Heri Iswanto, S.Hut., M.Si., Dr. Nelly Anna, S.Hut., M.Si., and Novita Anggraini, S.Hut., M.Sc. In addition to the lecturers, the event was attended by the Head of Administration and Heads of Subdivisions of the USU Faculty of Forestry.
After being opened by the Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Rudi Hartono, the event continued with remarks by Prof. Dr. Hasim Purba, S.H., M.Hum as Head of Commission I of the Board of Trustees. On this occasion, several other MWA members were also present and part of the group, including the Secretary of Commission I MWA, Puspa Melati Hasibuan, S.H., M.Hum., Head of Commission II MWA, Prof. Dr. Eng. Irvan, M.Si., and Secretary of Commission II MWA, Prof. Dr. Ing. Ir. Johannes Tarigan, along with several other MWA members.
The event then continued with a presentation on the implementation, planning, constraints, and work achievements of the USU Faculty of Forestry in 2023 by Dr. Pindi Patana, S.Hut., M.Sc. In his presentation, Dr. Pindi explained the existing infrastructure, programs, and developments that will be implemented in the future and the obstacles that occur in carrying out the planned program. On this occasion, Dr. Pindi also conveyed the infrastructure needs of the Faculty of Forestry, including road construction to improve access to the Kwala Bekala Campus, internet, parking arrangements, libraries, sports facilities, clinics, and others. In addition to describing infrastructure needs, on this occasion, Dr. Pindi also explained the various facilities owned by the Faculty of Forestry, such as the Green House and the Forest Products Technology (THH) Laboratory, which have obtained ISO 17025: 2017 Accreditation certificates. With the related facilities, the USU Faculty of Forestry is expected to be able to become edu-ecotourism and improve the quality of research not only for the Faculty of Forestry but also for other parties in need, he added.
On this occasion, the Head of the Board of Trustees Commission and the members appreciated the achievement of the Faculty of Forestry's performance program in 2023. Nevertheless, the chairman of the MWA Commission said that improvements related to various programs still need to be made to achieve the planned targets. The visit was followed by a visit to various existing facilities, such as laboratories and mosques that are being built. The event ended with a group photo session in front of the Faculty of Forestry building, USU Campus 2 Kwala Bekala.
