Everyone, including educational institutions, must implement change towards a better place. In supporting the efforts to change for the better, the Universitas Sumatera Utara Faculty of Forestry held a Meeting on the Implementation of the Zona Integritas Wilayah Bebas Korupsi (English: Corruption-Free Integrity Zone), also known as ZIWBK. According to the Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., in his speech on Friday, 30 September 2022, ZIWBK is a form of commitment and seriousness of the faculty leaders to make changes in the USU environment. Prof. Muryanto Amin also said that the integrity zone is one of the essential requirements for developing excellent and competitive human resources, as well as an honest and fair work environment. To achieve this, high integrity is needed and supported by three main goals: a clean bureaucracy, a capable bureaucracy, and a bureaucracy with excellent public services.
Based on this, the commitment and procedures of each faculty must be implemented immediately. In its implementation, the establishment of a Zona Integritas Wilayah Bebas Korupsi/Wilayah Birokrasi Bersih dan Melayani (English: corruption-free area / clean and serving bureaucratic area), abbreviated as ZI-WBK-WBBM, of USU is deemed necessary to appoint an integrity zone implementation team to obtain the WBK / WBBM Predicate of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Faculty of Forestry in 2024. Not only in appointing the implementation team but in its implementation, many things need to be considered and discussed to achieve the predicate and realization of ZIWBK. Therefore, on Monday, 29 January 2024, a second meeting was held to strengthen the ZIWBK program that will be implemented at the USU Faculty of Forestry. Some basic things seem to have been achieved in the second meeting, including efforts to collect and synchronize the data needed to support the achievement of the Faculty of Forestry as an Integrity Zone.
