The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), successfully held the main event of the 25th Anniversary of the Forestry Study Program and the 10th Anniversary of the Faculty of Forestry on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Faculty of Forestry, USU Bekala Campus. The event featured a series of formal and warm activities, attended by Vice Rector III, lecturers, students, alumni, and faculty partners.
The peak event of the Faculty of Forestry’s Anniversary adopted the theme “Accelerating Higher Education Toward a Golden Era of Indonesian Forestry.” The agenda began with participant registration, followed by an opening by the Master of Ceremony (MC) and a traditional welcoming dance performed by students. A solemn moment was created during the prayers and the singing of Indonesia Raya and the Mars Rimbawan.
The event was graced by university leaders, including USU Vice Rector III, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., who delivered a speech and officially opened the event. The Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si., and the Chairperson of the Anniversary Committee, Dr. Ridwanti Batubara, S.Hut., M.P., also presented reports on the faculty's journey and the series of activities previously conducted.
The main event took place on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Faculty of Forestry, USU Bekala Campus, starting at 8:30 AM and continuing until noon.
The Anniversary served as a moment to reflect on the 25-year journey of the Forestry Study Program and the 10-year existence of the Faculty of Forestry. This celebration not only highlighted the faculty’s achievements but also strengthened the bonds among academic staff, alumni, and partners.
One of the highlights was the screening of a congratulatory video from various stakeholders, which created an atmosphere of pride and appreciation. The event continued with a ceremonial cutting of the traditional tumpeng as a symbol of gratitude and a scientific oration delivered by Bobby Nopandry, S.Hut., MA., Head of Section II Stabat, Region I Division, Balai Besar KSDA North Sumatra.
Following the formal session, the event concluded with a communal meal and casual gathering. During this session, prizes were awarded to the winners of the Anniversary competitions, followed by a lucky draw featuring various attractive gifts, adding to the excitement and enthusiasm of the participants.
With its diverse activities and profound meaning, the peak event of the Anniversary of USU's Faculty of Forestry demonstrated the faculty’s commitment to fostering solidarity and inspiring continuous support for environmental sustainability. The event also served as a reflective moment that strengthened camaraderie and pride in the Faculty of Forestry as an integral part of Universitas Sumatera Utara.
