HUMAS FAHUTAN – The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has signed a collaboration agreement with PT Agincourt Resources to conduct a flora survey at the Research Station within the Martabe Gold Mine area in Batangtoru, South Tapanuli. The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
The agreement was signed by Vice President Director of PT Agincourt Resources, Ruli Tanio, and Dean of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Prof. Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si. This collaboration aims to support research and biodiversity conservation efforts within the company's operational area, particularly in mapping and conserving flora in the region.
The event was also attended by Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Prof. Dr. Agus Purwoko, S.Hut., M.Si., as well as Onrizal, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., who is also involved in implementing this partnership. The presence of academics and environmental practitioners highlights the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in promoting research-based environmental conservation.
Through this partnership, the research findings are expected to make a significant contribution to flora conservation efforts in the Batangtoru area and support more sustainable mining practices.
