On Monday, June 24, 2024, the Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Ir. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si, released the departure of students who will carry out the Forest Ecosystem Introduction Practice (P2EH). In addition to the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, the event was also attended by Vice Dean I, Dr. Ir. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad, S.Hut., M.Si, Head of the Undergraduate Program in Forestry, Dr. Ir. Tito Sucipto, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU., ASEAN Eng, Head of P2EH, Dr. Oding Affandi, S.Hut., M.P, Vice Head of P2EH, Dr. Ir. Bejo Slamet, S.Hut., M.Si, along with two Laborants and Field Assistants who will accompany during the activity. The release ceremony was held at the Mini Stadium, USU Padang Bulan Campus, Medan. The activity, which more than 200 people attended, began with singing the Indonesia Raya and Mars Rimbawan songs, reading prayers, remarks by the Head of P2EH and the Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry, handing over slayers to representatives of P2EH participants, then ending with a group photo.
P2EH is a routine activity carried out yearly as one of the compulsory courses for all USU Forestry students. Indeed, the practice carried out in this forest area is one of the activities that introduces students to the real forest ecosystem. This year, P2EH activities were held from Monday, June 24, 2024, to July 3, 2024, in the Mangrove Forest Area, Pasar Rawa Village, Gebang District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. P2EH provides students with experience and enrichment of hard and soft skills competencies in introducing forest ecosystems, especially mangrove forests.
After singing the Indonesia Raya and Mars Rimbawan songs, the release activity was then continued with remarks by the Head of P2EH, Dr. Oding Affandi, and a briefing by the Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si. On this occasion, Dr. Rudi Hartono congratulated all P2EH 2024 participants for having successfully gone through various processes to finally carry out P2EH as one of the mandatory practices that must be passed to achieve a Bachelor of Forestry degree. In addition, Dr. Rudi Hartono also left several messages to all participants who will explore the jungle for the next 10 days, including maintaining health, harmony, and enthusiasm in various activities planned during the practice. After the briefing, Dr. Rudi Hartono officially opened the P2EH 2024 activity and ended with a group photo. Not long after, all P2EH participants enthusiastically departed to the practice location, which was traveled for approximately 3 hours using the prepared bus.
