The Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara held a public lecture on February 19, 2025, at USU Bekala Campus, featuring Prof. Dr. Reiko Omoto from Tottori University, Japan. The lecture explored supply chain-based coral conservation with a case study on Mozuku seaweed farming in Okinawa. Attended by faculty members and students, the event included a Q&A session and discussions on implementing this concept in Indonesia. As a token of appreciation, certificates of recognition were presented to Prof. Reiko Omoto and the participating lecturers. This event aims to strengthen academic collaboration between USU and Tottori University.
FAHUTAN PUBLIC RELATIONS – The Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) hosted a public lecture titled "Supply Chain-Based Coral Conservation: The Case of Mozuku Seaweed Farming in Onna Village, Okinawa." The event featured Prof. Dr. Reiko Omoto from Tottori University, Japan, and was held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Ebony-Flamboyan Room, USU Bekala Campus.
The lecture discussed how supply chain approaches can be applied to coral conservation, using the case study of Mozuku seaweed farming in Okinawa. Prof. Reiko explained that involving local communities in the supply chain system plays a crucial role in maintaining marine ecosystem balance.
The event was attended by faculty members and students from the Faculty of Forestry at USU who are interested in coastal ecosystem sustainability. Following the presentation, an interactive Q&A session was held, sparking enthusiastic discussions on the potential implementation of this concept in Indonesia.
To conclude the event, the Faculty of Forestry at USU presented certificates of recognition to Prof. Dr. Reiko Omoto and the lecturers of related courses as a token of appreciation for their contributions to academic development in environmental conservation.
