PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) is an Indonesia-based mining company engaged in the exploration, mining, and processing of gold and silver minerals. The company operates the Martabe Gold Mine, located in Aek Pining Village, Batang Toru Subdistrict, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. While mining and technical operations are conducted in North Sumatra, the company’s core functions and administration are managed from its head office in Jakarta.
The Martabe Gold Mine is recognized as one of the largest gold mines in Indonesia and globally. Since commencing operations in 2012, the mine has produced more than 8 million ounces of gold. The Martabe Gold Mine is renowned for its industry leadership in occupational safety, sustainability, and efficient production processes. According to the official website of PT Agincourt Resources, the mine’s concession area is governed by a sixth-generation 30-year Contract of Work agreement between PT Agincourt Resources and the Indonesian government. Initially set at 6,560 km² in 1997, the concession area currently spans 130,252 hectares (1,303 km²) across South Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, North Tapanuli, and Mandailing Natal Regencies. The Martabe Gold Mine’s operational area in South Tapanuli covers 509 hectares as of January 2022.
Currently, PT Agincourt Resources has partnered with the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), through a formal agreement signed by PT Agincourt Resources and the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si. This partnership focuses on education and research, benefiting both parties while supporting PT Agincourt’s commitment to environmental conservation. The signing ceremony was also attended by the Vice Dean 3 of the Faculty of Forestry, Prof. Dr. Agus Purwoko, S.Hut., M.Si., and Onrizal, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., who serves as one of the project’s key implementers.
